Michael Foyle. Violin
Michael Foyle, who replaces Marta Kowalczk in this concert, (See News tab) won the BBC Young Musician Tabor Award in 2008 and the Netherlands Violin Competition in 2016. He has studied with James Ehnes and Maxim Vengerov. Following last year’s award he has appeared with the Rotterdam Philharmonic, as well as giving a debut chamber concert in the Concertgebouw, Amsterdam which can be watched on the Youtube link below.  Here he plays the Franck Violin Sonata, the last work in the concert on the 6th May.

Michael has a very busy concert schedule having performed in the Wigmore Hall, the Purcell Room and at the New York Chamber Music Festival. He has been a guest leader for the BBC Symphony Orchestra and will, following this concert, join the Halle Orchestra in the same role under Sir Mark Elder.

 South Korean pianist Somi Kim, graduated from the Royal Academy of Music with an Advanced Diploma in Performance. Subsequently she gained an MA with distinction, the Gerald Moore Award for Accompanists and the Patricia Routledge National English Song Accompaniment Prize. She has been awarded the Royal Overseas League Arts International Scholarship and made her debut with Chamber Music New Zealand  as well as completing a fifteen concert tour with the Mimosa Ensemble. Somi is also a Park Lane Group Artist.

Somi has undertaken masterclasses with Stephen Hough, Helmut Deitsch, Bengt Forsberg, Maxin Vengerov and Sarah Connolly. Future appearances include St John's Smith Square, Cadogan Hall, Bridgewater Hall and the King's Lynn and Oxford Leider Festivals
